On the occasion of Semaine du Dessin 2009, the Musée Condé presents a selection of its sculptors' most beautiful drawings. The Italian Renaissance is represented by the masters artists having also practised painting and sculpture, as it was frequent in the time: Michel-angel, Baccio Bandinelli, Bandin.The French XVIIIth century is illustrated by Oppenord, Bouchardon and Louis-Pierre Deseine, common sculptor of the princes of Condé, owners of Chantilly, at the end of the XVIIIth century and under the Restoration.
In the first half of the XIXth century, Henri de Triqueti, close to the Orléans' family, which makes the intermediary between the business of art and the duke of Aumale exiled in England at the time, realizes projects for sculptured bas-reliefs or vases realized for the Orléans'.
The end of the XIXth century is represented by the drawings of the artists which worked around Honoré Daumet, the architect of the duke of Aumale, on the reconstruction of the castle of Chantilly: Henri Chapu delivers drawings of atlantes for the main staircase; the silversmith Froment-Meurice draws the sword of honor of the duke of Aumale in association with Daumet and Chapu.
