After a carreer as a business lawyer, Patrick Derom decided to turn his interest in art into his new profession. In 1986, he opened his gallery, showing nineteeth and twentieth century paintings, drawings and sculpture.

The gallery specialised in important symbolist and surrealist Belgian artists including Rops, Khnopff, Spilliaert, Minne, Delvaux and Magritte.

Since his association in 1998 with Shepherd Gallery in New York, the gallery has broadened its interest to become more internationally oriented and now includes twentieth century avant-garde artists such as Miro, Arp, Klee and Ernst, to name but a few.

Besides the organisation of exhibitions held both in Brussels and New York, Patrick Derom assists in establishing or completing public and private art collections in Belgium and abroad.
