From Paris to Chantilly…

A quintessentially Parisian event from its inception, la Semaine du Dessin has now spread outside the capital. The museums of Boulogne, Sèvres, Sceaux and Chantilly will also now open the doors to their collections of drawings to the public. The various locations are all very different, just like the drawings they present.

For example, la Bibliothèque du Museum d’Histoire naturelle (the Natural History Museum Library) will bring to light a group of drawings on the theme of biodiversity focusing on the link between science and heritage.

La Bibliothèque Nationale de France (the National French Library) and the Musée Condé will display drawings relating to the theme of the Collector’s Mark while the Cité de la Céramique (the Ceramic centre) will exhibit drawings in relation to porcelain.

The Foundation Custodia will unveil Frits Lugt’s collection of French drawings, from Watteau to Degas.

A new occasion to study side by side works from the past and the present, as well as seduce collectors and art lovers, connoisseurs and antique-hunters. And it is also, of course, an opportunity for dialogue and exchanges with specialists.

Each participating museum will organise an exhibition and/or private visit of their collections.

These private visits are free of charge and open to all.

However registration is compulsory, please call + 33 1 45 22 61 05 from 8th February 2010.
