On the program for the Salon du Dessin 2026

Guest of honor: The André Malraux Museum of Modern Art (MuMa – Le Havre)

Inaugurated in 1961 by André Malraux in Le Havre, birthplace of Monet, Dubuffet, Friesz, Dufy and Braque, MuMa is renowned for its Impressionist and Fauvist collections, the Boudin collection and the Marande bequest.

The recent donation by Hélène Senn-Foulds makes MuMa one of the leading Impressionist collections in France.

The museum presents works by Renoir, Pissarro, Sisley, Degas, as well as Courbet and Corot.

Drawing through the prism of its materiality

This new theme for 2026-2027 is placed under the scientific direction of Sarah Catala, heritage curator student, Paris, National Heritage Institute, Valentine Dubard de Gaillarbois, conservator-restorer of graphic arts, Paris, Musée des Arts décoratifs and Axel Moulinier, affiliated researcher at IRHiS (Institut de recherches historiques du Septentrion: IRHIS - UMR 8529), Lille, University of Lille

 

And as always: Drawing Week, the Drawing Prize of the Daniel and Florence Guerlain Contemporary Art Foundation, the children's drawing competition with Le Petit Léonard and the association NOC! Nous on crée, the art school at the hospital.

Bella Maniera Publication Grant Third edition

Applications for the third edition of the Bella Maniera Publication Grant are open until 1 December 2025.

This grant supports research into antique and 19th-century drawings.
It is worth €3,000.

The Salon du Dessin changes its chairmanship

The Salon du Dessin is now chaired by Florence Chibret-Plaussu (Galerie de La Présidence) and Hervé Aaron (Galerie Didier Aaron), former chair and honorary chair of the Salon.

The 34th edition of the Salon du Dessin will take place from 24 to 30 March 2026 at the Palais Brongniart and will welcome the MuMa in Le Havre as its guest of honour.

Les dessins de voyages - Tome 1

The proceedings of the 17th Rencontres Internationales du Salon du dessin have been published! This is the first volume of the 2024-2025 meetings on the theme Les dessins de voyage. Les artistes voyageurs: formes et fonctions du dessin de voyage XVIe-XVIIe siècles.

The texts come from the 2024 meetings, chaired by Pierre Rosenberg of the Académie Française. Scientific director: Marco Simone Bolzoni, curator of Old Master and 19th-century drawings in the Debra and Leon Black Collection, New York.
